Our suggested care for this soil is to carefully break away and strip roots of lower quality soil that may harm your plant and re-pot your plant in this soil (topping with sand or rocks optional), and water cacti and succulents into the soil. Other kinds of plants, such as ferns, may need water more frequently. We recommend using an absorbent planter like any of our planters or terra cotta.

O U R S O I L
You aren't really a plant killer!
Most cacti and other succulents are sold in low quality soil that clumps around the roots of the plant and allow the plant and soil to slide right out of the cup. Succulents and cacti are desert plants that naturally grow in sand or sandy soils that drain well. If they are watered in low quality soil their roots will sit in water and will begin to rot the plant from the bottom up. More delicate plants will die right away while more hardy plants take longer to look sad.

You can save plants by stripping this cheap soil off and planting them in high quality succulent and cactus mixtures. We are providing our signature soil and sand in our shop by popular demand so you can use your own plants, our planters, and be sure you are set up for success!

My plants are doing much better with this dirt + sand, this is a very large bag so if you like small succulents then this’ll last a long time. Feels like great quality
