Aventurine- Aventurine is a quartzite gemstone composed of interlocking grains of quartz and mica or iron crystals. Because the mica and iron crystals are reflective, they create a sparkle effect from beneath the stone surface, giving the stone the characteristic phenomenon that carries its name: aventurescence. Its name is derived from the Italian “a Ventura” meaning “by chance,” owing to the accidental nature of its discovery.

Jade- Nephrite jade is an aggregate of interlocked fibrous amphibole crystals. Because it is tough and fine-grained, this type of jade is suitable for carving. Jade has a history that traces back to prehistoric times, to the ancient Chinese, the Maori, and to the Aztecs and Inca peoples of Central America. Gemstones are but one of the many uses these people had for this material. Reputed by folklore to attract love, this stone was also believed to deliver prosperity and power to those who wore or carried it.

Peridot- Peridot is the gem form of the mineral olivine. It is one of the few gemstones that occur in only one color. The color of each stone is a result of iron in its chemical composition. Rio Grande sources the highest-quality peridot stones available, avoiding those with visible black inclusions.

Citrine- Citrine, although often mistakenly referred to as topaz, belongs to the quartz family. The yellow color of this gemstone is due to the presence of iron in the trigonal crystal structure. Named for its bright citrus color, citrine can present a range of yellow hues, from pale yellow to deep brownish gold. Though gemstone-quality stones are rare, Rio Grande offers the highest quality citrine available. According to folklore, citrine conveys the power of the sun.

Amazonite- Amazonite is an aqua green stone said to be of truth, honor, communication, integrity, hope, and trust. It is said to enhance intuition, psychic powers, creativity, intellect, and psychic ability. Amazonite is often associated with the throat chakra, and as such, said to be beneficial to communication.

Denim Lapis- Lapis lazuli is a metamorphic stone composed of lazurite, pyrite, and calcite. It exhibits a shade of blue resulting from the relative color percentages of these minerals. Represented in folklore as a symbol of the starry night, lapis lazuli is said to stimulate the intellect and support wisdom.

Amethyst- Amethyst is the birthstone for February. It is the best known and most valuable form of quartz. The color of natural amethyst is caused by iron or manganese compound impurities in the mineral. Named for the Greek word for “sober,” amethyst was believed to remedy drunkenness. As a crystal, amethyst is credited with relieving stress and promoting peace of mind.

Carnelian- Carnelian is a type of chalcedony with a semi-opaque reddish-orange color. Its color comes from its iron oxide content, and stones may present a uniform color or be faintly banded. Its name comes from the Latin "cornum," meaning cherry, due to the resemblance of its color to that fruit; carnelian is reputed in folklore to engender eloquence in its wearers.

Moonstone- A stone for “new beginnings”, Moonstone is a stone of inner growth and strength. It soothes emotional instability and stress, and stabilizes the emotions, providing calmness. Moonstone enhances intuition, promotes inspiration, success and good fortune in love and business matters.

Black Onyx- A powerful protection stone, Black Onyx absorbs and transforms negative energy, and helps to prevent the drain of personal energy. Black Onyx aids the development of emotional and physical strength and stamina, especially when support is needed during times of stress, confusion or grief. Black Onyx fosters wise decision-making.
