Description

Superb old suzani fully hand embroidered on an ecru ground cloth in vibrant deep black and red colors, symetrical sun discs patterns and stylized bushes on borders

In making a suzani, first the older woman was drawing the design on the different panels. The sections were embroidered by the women of the family then stitched together. This extremely decorative Central Asia embroidery were traditionally made to decorate their homes

Use now : wall hanging, bed spread, curtain, bed cover

Materials : ecru cotton ground cloth, four sections on the lenght hand stitched together (running stitch)
Techniques : handmade embroidery, cotton Basma stitches also called Bukhara couching, machine stitches on the white cotton borders (3,9 inches -10 cm)

Condition : good condition, only few cotton threads used (cf photo)
