Description

I have always felt complete in nature. I chose crafting gourds and developing them into lamps, because "giving light" as a concept seemed quite in harmony with my understanding of universe and humanity. I personally think there is an inner light in each individual which is due to be fully discovered and reflected out to be able to be in complete touch with the universe. The idea of a person reading my story and preferring my lamp, getting on a path to their inner light feels really wonderful. I mostly intend to make combinations with natural concepts such as prefering wood bases for my desk and floor lamp collections. Right now, I am working on a new collection of brass & copper combinations with gourd lamp. I personally believe the nature itself is an artist and I am just glad for being able to unite nature's different works all together. As a gourd crafter, I live my art thoroughly from planting of the calabash to pick up from my field and drilling, painting after removing the outer layer o the gourd. In order to add some magic of colors onto my gourd lamps, I apply beads and Agate stones on the gourds. During the making of my gourd lamps, I think my approach is rather directing the light within the lamp by the fitting drilling technique in order to have the most opulent reflection to the space it's located. I accept all type of custom orders such as engraving names or different color applications or patterns. Just let me know what you have in mind via a describing text or a photo that inspires you. We will discuss further on the project one on one.

Every gourd is created unique by nature, it is impossible to make an exact replica. I grow them in my own garden. 8 months later, I harvest them when they grow gourds . I expect to dry out for about 2 months. I do every step carefully and with love. So the nature gives me a perfect Gourd.
I carefully sandblast the outer shell of the gourd to reveal its natural surface. Art design model drawing on the surface of gourds. I use drill bits in different sizes to drill different width holes on the surface of the gourds. My purpose is to give direction to the light coming out in the gourd. Optionally painted with acrylic paint, and polishing. Original design and beautiful workmanship reveal these magic lamps.
