Description

The famous Kosa silk from the state of Chattisgarh is well known for its elegance, texture, beauty and comfort. Kosa Silk sarees are produced in the state of Chattisgarh by the Dewangan tribe which resides in the Gondwana forest belt. The tribal and forest origins of the Kosa Silk saree have greatly influenced the nature and tribal inspired designs seen on it that sets it apart from the modern-day designs. Kosa Silk fabric is produced using threads from a special type of Silk worm called Kosa that is rather rare and its cultivation is laborious. It is specially grown on Arjun, Saja or Sal trees in forests in the central part of India. The sarees made from this silk make a great wear for important occasions like weddings and religious ceremonies. This silk is like Tussar silk.

This Hand Woven Kosa Silk saree in gold color with gold colored silk thread motifs has fine texture with a natural gleam and is light weight. It weighs about 10 ounces.
