This piece is a print made from a zinc plate. This image is created after the Sumerian Goddess of Love, Inanna (or Ishtar). The english word Easter" comes from this word "Ishtar", from this goddess.

The image is made by creating the drawing into the ink plate, carving it out with an acid bath, and then pressing ink into the lines of the metal. Afterwards, the inked plate is rolled through the press with a moistened piece of cotton-paper to capture the image. The ink seeps into the paper, not simply drawn onto it. This piece in particular has an area of thin colored rice paper (collage or Collé) on glued to the surface of a print.

*As each print is handmade, some may slightly vary from the image

This piece is a wonderful gift for Mothers Day, Valentines Day, Weddings, Birthdays, or even for religious holidays.

I will send a hand written thank you and story about the piece upon purchase! (:

Plate size is 2.75 by 5.75 inches mounted on a 11 inch by 14 inch paper.
