{ daucus carota }

Parisian carrots are an interesting Nineteenth-century French heirloom. Produces early round reddish orange carrots, 1-2" in diameter, uniform in size and shape with a very sweet flavour. A tolerant carrot variety that does well in shallow or rocky soil. A great variety to grow in containers.

{ planting instructions }

Direct sow seeds outdoors 3-4 weeks before last spring frost or as soon as soil can be worked. Tamp soil firmly; keep bed moist until emergence. Seeds should be sown 1/4" deep, 1/2" apart, and then thinned to 2-4" apart. Germination is slow and uneven requiring some patience. Using spun polyester row covers may improve germination rates.
