Description

Our sample match striker strips are the perfect way to play around with match striker material to see if it works for your project.

It enables you to efficiently test your designs, along with making sure the adhesive backing is strong enough for whatever surface you are using.

They are also a useful addition for camping supplies, survival gear, and emergency kits as a backup firestarter. Keep them in plastic bag or metal tin, along with a small box or pouch of matches.

- Approximately 1" H x 7.5 "W
- Color availability will change as inventory is sold.
- These are cut from the 'bargain bin' match striker sheets, so will they have blemishes.
- The color is indicated on the back of each strip: 1 dark gray, 1 brownish black*, 2 honeycomb patterns, and 3 shades of brown*

* Reddish Brown and Brownish Black are longer available as full-sized sheets; they were from an old vendor that I no longer use. Also, "old" and "new" refer to inventory status.

SHEET CATEGORIES

(The names may change but the definitions will not.)

It's natural and common for striker sheets to have small spots or blemishes, especially around the edges, but some have more than others. They all function the same. The categories below are strictly based on appearance.

PREMIUM/Excellent sheets are generally smooth with consistent color, with few blemishes, if any. They are the best of bunch, but when they're gone, they're gone - until I order new inventory, which is usually twice per year. (I will have new inventory by mid-April.)

REGULAR/Good sheets have some spots or blemishes but are easily ignored or can be cut around. They are ideal for most craft projects. Similar to premium sheets, they are in limited supply. (I will have new inventory by mid-April.)

BARGAIN BIN/Fair sheets have many and/or larger spots or blemishes - like smudges, streaks, spots, discoloration, creases, tears - just like "meh" or sometimes "ew" (and if they're too gross, I don't even sell them).

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do you sell the matchsticks by themselves?
Yes, we have 4" matchsticks come in black, white, red, pink, yellow, brown, green, orange, teal, and black on black. Purple, blue, and more pink 4" matchsticks will be available by June, along with 11" matchsticks in black and white. Please message me beforehand if you need more than 20 units; I'm still sorting out inventory levels and not set up for huge bulk orders yet.

Do you offer bulk pricing on the matchsticks?
I can offer bulk pricing on a case by case basis. As I stated above, I'm still sorting out inventory levels and understanding customer demand. I'm also at the mercy of my suppliers in terms of inventory availability and shipping time. If you need more than 200 matchboxes, you're better off contacting my suppliers directly. If you have a sales & tax use certificate, you can set up a wholesale account with HomArt pretty quickly, and their turnaround time is 1-3 weeks; they also have a low minimum of 20 boxes. If you have more lead time and need even larger quantities of matchboxes, then I recommend my other supplier, Maryland Match. See more information about them on the next question.

Can I get custom printing on the matchboxes?
No, I don't do custom printing on the matchboxes. They come to me already in the decorative boxes and shrink wrapped. My supplier, Maryland Match, is a full-service house and does custom printing. Their MOQ is 1,000 matchboxes and turnaround time is 3-4 months for 4" and 11" matchboxes, and 9-12 weeks for 2" matchboxes.

Do you sell LOOSE matchsticks by themselves? I don't need the matchboxes.
* I get this request a lot, and I'm working on how to price this service.
* I ship the boxes to customers exactly as I receive them from my supplier -- already packaged and shrink wrapped.
* Shipping "loose" matchsticks involves removing the shrink wrapping, inspecting the matches for color quality (I've received 4 shades of pink and 3 shades of brown), removing defective pieces, manually counting the matchsticks (all boxes have a different number of matchsticks, 45 on avg), and then reorganizing them into batches of 50 or 100, then repackaging them into a plastic baggie (for example).
* This is very tedious and takes more time than people realize, and that's what you'd be paying for -- my time. For a few orders here and there, it's not a huge deal, but I get these requests regularly, often for hundreds or thousands of matchsticks, so I know there's a demand.

Does the match striker paper work with safety matches?
Yes, they work with safety matches and strike-anywhere matches.

Isn't the striker material actually just fine sandpaper?
No. This is actual match striker material imported from matchstick manufacturers. It's the exact material used on matchboxes, matchbooks, etc.

Does the match striker paper only come in shades of black or brown?
Yes. That's due to the chemical nature of phosphorus. Believe me, if I could get the sheets in different colors, I would!

Can you do custom striker shapes?
Yes. I use a Silhouette Cameo cutting machine to create all kinds of shapes and letters, just not too small or intricate because you need enough space to strike the matches, plus the material can tear easily when cutting it and/or peeling it off my cutting mat. All I need is a jpeg or gif of an image that has an outline that can be "traced"; you can send me your own or I can find one for you. Once we agree on a shape, I will send you samples. If you are satisfied, I charge a one-time $15 custom design fee to the final order.

Do you offer overnight shipping?
Usually, I can ship overnight without a problem via US Postal Service (starts at $25), FedEx (starts at $50), or UPS (starts at $65). If your order is urgent, please message me, and I'll do my best to accommodate your situation. FedEx and UPS are generally more reliable than the US Postal Service overnight (express) service. My cut off times are as follows, all Eastern Standard Time: US Postal Service 4PM. UPS 5PM. FedEx 6:30PM.

Why is the shipping cost so high for the match striker sheets?
I use a thick cardboard mailer to protect the sheets and keep them flat. This adds weight and changes the package class (vs a regular flat envelope) to one that enables tracking, which in turns costs more to mail. However, if you don't care if sheets might get bent during shipping and tracking may not be available, I can package them in a regular flat envelope which brings the shipping cost down a little. For US customers, the shipping doesn't decrease that much, but for overseas customers, the difference is significant. However, if you order a lot of sheets, the weight alone will drive the shipping cost back up, regardless of packaging. Message me or request a custom order with the number of sheets you want, your country, and your postal code, and I will calculate shipping for you.
