Details

This regency creation comes in two parts: an off-white cotton underdress that gathers at the low neckline with a satin ribbon, and a bodice of light mustard-colored velvet. The velvet is a really delicious fabric with subtle variations in color, a lovely sheen, and sturdy enough to achieve gravity-defying plumpness without foundation garments for most bust sizes. It is edged in white bias trim and lined in muslin. The eyelets are hand-sewn for historical accuracy and subtle beauty of detail. A grosgrain ribbon in a darker mustard laces up the front and can be tied at a tightness anywhere between ease of breathing and fainting spell. (Not that you'll need to attract any further attention once attired in yards of cotton and velvet.)

SIZING. Ranunculus Market's standard sizing is as follows:

XS: bust 30, waist 24, hip 36
S: bust 34, waist 28, hip 39
M: bust 38, waist 33, hip 42
L: bust 42, waist 37, hip 45

Please select the size that's closest to your measurements (always err on the larger side). I'm always glad to explain how to take measurements, so convo me if you have questions.

If your size falls significantly outside of these standard sizes, RM is glad to tailor the garment to fit for a 10% additional cost. Some garments will require that a muslin precursor be mailed and fitted on you prior to making the final garment. You can learn more about the muslin service here:

RM loves custom! read about our custom design process in our shop policies:

For a simple fabric switcheroo, custom color or alternate fabrics can be procured through our swatch service:

Fabrics may vary slightly, but will always be lovely. Please read our shop policies for detailed information about ordering.

I did try the shop...... She claims that's how she made the dress! The dress has a hole in the middle where the seam meets the lace and fabric..... There is also a small hole on the right side of the underarm area..... I don't understand why all she claims that's how the dress was made..... Paula

I'm not sure I can adequately describe how lovely this dress is! Prima was marvellous at communicating so that we got the sizing right, and it is lovely linen fabric. The stripes are a slightly different material than in the advertised photo, but as she makes these to order, that's understandable. I bought it for my book launch and cannot wait to wear it!

Additional policies

SIZING.
If you've never measured yourself before, don't worry, it's pretty straightforward.
You can use a tape measure if you have one or just a (non-stretch) piece of string or ribbon and match it up against a tape measure or ruler. Be as accurate as you can, but don't pull too tight.
Measure the circumference of each part as follows:
Bust: Fullest part of bust
Underbust: Right underneath the bust (bra band)
Natural waist: Narrowest part of waist, around the belly button
Low waist: Where pants usually hit
Hip: Around the fleshiest part of the backside.

XS= dress size 0/2, bust 30, under bust 28, natural waist 24, low waist 32, hip 36
S= dress size 2/4, bust 34, under bust 32, natural waist 28, low waist 34, hip 39
M= dress size 6/8, bust 38, under bust 34, natural waist 32, low waist 36, hip 42
L= dress size 10/12, bust 42, under bust 36, natural waist 35, low waist 38, hip 45

Choose the size that matches your body most closely, and always round up. If you fall substantially outside of these sizes, let me know and it is possible to custom-size the garment for a small additional fee.
Feel free to contact me with any questions.

CUSTOM ORDERS.
Custom orders are welcome!

If you are interested in a custom fabric choice for a garment already in the shop, you can purchase our swatch service here:
https://www.etsy.com/listing/71570901/swatch-service

For a garment tailored to your heart's desire, here's my usual process:

-We discuss the project. I give you an estimate, which totals up the expected cost of materials, labor, and a 20% custom surcharge. This is also a good time to let me know if the garment will be worn for a special event with a specific deadline.
-I will make you a custom listing for 50% of this estimated cost. Once it has been purchased, we can get down to the nitty gritty of design, color, and fabric choices. If you'd like to see and touch the fabric choices in person, you can buy my swatch service (https://www.etsy.com/listing/71570901/swatch-service) to have them mailed to your doorstep. Otherwise, pictures of fabrics will be discussed in convo form.
-Once we have decided on fabric and design, materials will be purchased and another custom listing will be made for the balance of the cost, adjusted for the price of the fabrics chosen.
-After the full balance is paid, construction will begin, and your garment will be meticulously crafted to your specifications. You can ask to have pictures sent of progress along the way.
-The final garment will be shipped as promptly as possible.

If the customer is not satisfied with the direction the commissioned project is taking, a partial refund of the initial deposit may be issued. In this case, the customer will be refunded whatever portion of the deposit has not been spent on materials for the order. No refunds will be issued after the full amount of the order is paid and work has begun. As stated above, Ranunculus Market does not accept returns, but alterations are always offered if the fit is not perfect the first time around. (If you are concerned about fit, another option is to add on my muslin service: https://www.etsy.com/listing/118389500/muslin-service?ref=shop_home_active.)
