The reclaimed wood top of each stool is handcrafted from the floor joists of century old plus deconstructed barns,buildings, or homes in the Midwestern US, typically around Chicago, central Illinois or Wisconsin.

Each wood seat has been sanded smooth and left natural but still reflects its original aged patina. We include a small jar of our "Swilley's all Natural Beeswax Wood Rub/Conditioner" that takes about 15 seconds to rub on with a soft cloth if you choose to use it. The rub/conditioner will enhance the wood grains and slightly darken your stool top as seen in photo 4 or 5.

Due to the nature of our products, color, texture, and all other characteristics of our material vary widely. Any variation is acceptable with reclaimed lumber if the product is structurally stable. These are examples of character marks that can appear in reclaimed lumber: mineral staining, color changes, species changes, weathering, discoloration and staining, rough-sawn, cracking, nail holes, loose knots, tool marks, dents, thickness variations, splitting, and mixed grain patterns.We strongly urge you to view all or our Goods available on the Website to familiarize and understand this variation. Returns and exchange details
Return Policy. Urban Wood Goods may accept returns, or exchanges on UPS shipments for standard sizes of benches, console tables, bar stools, small desks and wine racks within ten (10) days of delivery. Dining Tables and desks may not be returned. All custom furniture is final sale and not eligible for return. Goods that are shipped in a crate via freight carrier are final sale and not eligible for return.For all returned Goods, Buyer must request a Return Merchandise Authorization prior to returning the goods, will be required to pay for return shipping, and the order may be subject to a 15% restocking fee. The full amount of the returned Goods less shipping and handling cost, will be returned to the Buyer once Urban Wood Goods has the Goods back in its possession.

Changes to Order. Buyers may, within three (3) business days, make a written request to change the Order. Urban Wood Goods reserves the right to agree to or decline any requested changes due to availability of materials or any other reason. If Urban Wood Goods agrees to make changes, the pricing of the furniture ordered will be adjusted according to our pricing in place at the time the changes are requested.

Cancellation of Order. A Buyer has three (3) business days to cancel the Order and receive a full refund without penalty. After this period, Urban Wood Goods may, in its sole discretion, allow Buyer to cancel the Order subject to a ten percent (10%) cancellation fee or refuse to cancel the order.

Most orders ship via UPS across the United States in 1-4 business days with no signature required. Please Note that we do not send our packages "signature required". If you would like this option, please let us know in advance when your order is placed. Sometimes, even though we ship signature not required, the UPS driver has the right to leave a call tag instead of the package if they do not feel comfortable leaving the package. Please be aware that orders only ship on business days; we do not offer weekend or holiday delivery. Larger items such as tables and desks often ship via a freight carrier in 3-7 days. You will also receive tracking and phone call from the freight carrier to schedule delivery. The freight carrier drops the crate off curbside and requires a signature. If you have ordered something that is coming via freight carrier please make sure to find a friend or two to help you carry your furniture up to your apartment or home. White glove delivery is available if you must have it for a price increase but you must contact us to set this up and pay the additional charge which is typically several hundred dollars more for this service. First Threshold Delivery for Freight: Please expect that a 3rd party delivery company hired by the freight carrier will bring your crate to the first threshold /loading dock or curbside and require a signature. They will not bring it up stairs for you or into your apartment or home or business. If you have an item coming via freight carrier please make sure to find assistance to help you carry your furniture up to your apartment or home. You will be responsible for disposing of the wooden crate your furniture arrives in unless in advance you pay for debris removal via white glove service option. White glove delivery is available if you must have it for a price increase but you must arrange for this with Urban Wood Goods at the time of purchase, or prior to shipment. Large or Oversized Items: Urban Wood Goods advises you to be certain all items that are oversized ie. 8' and above fit into the elevator or through stairwells in your building. Large conference tables may also be built in 2 or 3 sections by client request. Standard Freight Delivery includes transporting the crates to the first threshold or ground floor. WGS available as a shipping upgrade option. Standard Delivery does not include carrying up stairs or into an elevator. Client is responsible for additional movement of furniture beyond first threshold or accepting the responsibility for additional payment as quoted by the logistics company of Urban Wood Goods' choice.

Lead times. Small items such as console tables, benches, bar stools and small desks typically ship within 1-2 weeks or sooner. Coffee tables, small tables and desks ship in approx 3-4 weeks. Dining tables larger than 60" ship in approx. 5 weeks. The typical lead time for custom orders is 4-8 weeks.

Late Delivery. Any time quoted by Urban Wood Goods for delivery is an estimate only. Urban Wood Goods is not liable for or in respect of any loss or damage arising from any delay in filling any order, failure to deliver or delay in delivery. No delay in the shipment or delivery of any Goods relieves you of your obligations under these Terms, including without limitation payment for the Goods.

Your Freight shipment will be secured in a crate with protective packaging, and high-grade straps to help prevent damage during transit. The shipment will arrive on a semi-truck.The semi-truck will have a lift-gate to bring the crate to ground level. Be sure to inspect the outside of the crate for damage with extra scrutiny.I f the crate looks damaged please call us immediately at 855-966-3466 or 248-310-7668. Do not sign for the shipment if the crate looks damaged. When you sign the driver’s delivery receipt, you are acknowledging receipt of all products in good order.

Buyer shall inspect the Goods upon delivery and notify Urban Wood Goods within 3 days of receipt ("Inspection Period") if any Goods are damaged or incomplete. Buyer will be deemed to have accepted the Goods unless Buyer notifies Urban Wood Goods in writing of any damaged or incomplete Goods during the Inspection Period and furnishes such written evidence or other documentation as required by Urban Wood Goods. If Buyer timely notifies us of any damaged or incomplete Goods, we will work to fix or replace such Goods at no cost to you.

White Glove Delivery:
White glove delivery and shipping typically ranges from $300-500 total. For "White Glove" delivery, the carrier will only bring it inside your apartment, un-package it for you and remove the shipping materials and crate. This needs to be set up in advance.

Shipping outside the continental 48 States:

Currently we ship to Canada but it requires additional charges to ship. PLease convo before you order or expect that we will be contacting you to pay the additional charges after purchase if you are requesting Canada delivery.The same goes for Alaska and Hawaii.

What kind of lumber do you use?

Unless otherwise specified, all lumber is reclaimed and known as “Old Growth” lumber that is typically Douglas Fir. Old Growth is 100-200 years old. This wood has character and we do not use a 4-sided planer or mill the wood to remove the original salvaged patina on the wood and make the surface look perfect and square on all edges. Your furniture may have nail holes, and natural curves in the wood. It may have nicks and dents and texture. We sand the wood very nicely and try to maintain the original aged aesthetic as much as possible while still maintaining a functional smooth writing, dining, or seating surface. There may be splitting and checking in the lumber that doesn’t reduce its strength or longevity. What we are saying is that this wood has some character and soul to it. If you aren’t positive that is your style and/or you are looking for a very modern, highly finished, milled perfectly squared surface you may be at the wrong place. Additionally, there is sometimes variation in the color of the boards and some are lighter or a bit darker. All pieces are unique and may vary slightly in character and color from the exact pieces on our website. We give ourselves up to an inch in any direction for the construction of all pieces

What are your lead times?

The typical lead time for benches, stools and console tables is 1-2 weeks and all desks, dining tables and other larger items and custom orders it is 3-4 weeks. This means your furniture typically ships out within this time frame. Time in transit varies but its typically 2-3 business days to the East coast ,4 business days to the west, and 1-2 days in transit in the Midwest. We offer local local Chicago delivery and set up of tables, desks etc for a 50-100.00 fee depending on the order. If you need furniture by a certain date, please submit a request prior to purchasing. We do our best to accommodate but do not make any guarantees.

Assembly

Each piece of furniture typically requires very light and easy assembly that is much easier and quicker if you have an electric or cordless screwdriver/gun. All required hardware comes with your table and all holes are pre-drilled. The wood tops come unattached to the table base for ease of shipping and to minimize any shipping issues. They are very easy to attach. Stools with backs will require a wrench as is noted on the included instructions.

How is the wood finished?

Many of the photos in our shop represent the wood in it's salvaged, unsealed natural state. We also offer a view of swatches of our various finishes in many of our table and desk listings.

Benches, media stands, console tables and wine racks are usually sold as natural , unsealed but we include with your purchase a 2 oz jar of Swilley's Beeswax based all natural wood rub as an option if you choose to add it to your piece. It's a very simple wood conditioner/rub on wax that easily rubs on should you choose to use it . We recommend you test it first on the underside of your piece to be sure you like it. It slightly darkens the wood while offering some stain and moisture protection and often makes the grains "pop" beautifully adding a richness to your piece. Swilley's contains trace amounts of Almond oil. If you order larger pieces we send you a a couple of small jars of Swilley's at no charge or you may purchase additional jars in our Etsy shop.
If you would like a clear coat satin finish to offer a "no/low maintenance solution we can apply this to desks or tables which also offers a beautiful finish that is slightly darker than the natural wood. If you are ordering a dining table, we will also apply it to your matching bench(es) if you have ordered them. This sealant is also included with the walnut and antique finish as well.

What care or maintenance is needed for the steel furniture legs of my piece?

Standard pipe legs and hairpin legs on all pieces are made of raw steel which we spray with a clear coat for rust prevention. This clear coat will keep the legs free from rust in an indoor environment. If you plan to use your bench outdoors please let us know so that we can possibly recommend stainless steel legs.

Are the legs on the Hairpin legs benches or other types sturdy enough to support large amounts of weight?

Yes and they have sturdy metal baseplates that make the legs easy to attach to the wood.

Does furniture ship assembled?

No. Most pieces ship in one box and are marked for easy assembled within minutes. An electric or cordless screwdriver is recommended. Even desks and tables are easily assembled some adjustments on legs might be necessary to level to your specific space.

Do you ship outside the US?

We currently only ship to the US and Canada but we do not cover duty or taxes to import the goods, that responsibility is on the buyer. Please email us before you place your order if you are outside the continental 48 states. We will get you a shipping quote first.

Do you offer local Chicago delivery or pick-up?
Our workshop where we build all products is located 45 minutes north of the city. If you want to save on shipping, you may schedule a time to pickup at our workshop in Gurnee (not available for pick-up from our Chicago Studio) and we will refund your shipping charge. Local delivery and set-up available for around 100.00-200.00.

May I use my furniture outside?

We offer a special finish for outdoor seating and dining if you are looking to keep your furniture outside. We require you to let us know this in advance. It is an additional charge.

No. Most pieces ship in one box and are marked for easy assembled within minutes. An electric or cordless screwdriver is recommended. Even desks and tables are easily assembled some adjustments on legs might be necessary to level to your specific space.

Do you ship outside the US?

We currently only ship to the US and Canada but we do not cover duty or taxes to import the goods, that responsibility is on the buyer. Please email us before you place your order if you are outside the continental 48 states. We will get you a shipping quote first.

Do you offer local Chicago delivery or pick-up?
Our workshop where we build all products is located 45 minutes north of the city. If you want to save on shipping, you may schedule a time to pickup at our workshop in Gurnee (not available for pick-up from our Chicago Studio) and we will refund your shipping charge. Local delivery and set-up available for around 100.00-200.00.

May I use my furniture outside?

We offer a special finish for outdoor seating and dining if you are looking to keep your furniture outside. We require you to let us know this in advance. It is an additional charge.
