Antique, Taylor Tunnicliffe, Indoor Jardiniere, for houseplants, made in Stoke on Trent, England, between, 1868 and 1898

This ceramic Jardinière is decorated in a Victorian style with Cream glazed panels, and olive green unglazed panels. The decorating has been done after glazing, and includes colours highlighted with Gilt. The edge of the base is also gilded. At the rim there is a metal bezel into which the handle is fixed. On the base, there is a crown and maker's mark which is Taylor Tunnicliff from Stoke on Trent England. The mark is shown in photos 4 and 5 and is identified as the King's Crown version, which was in use until 1898. There is a model number of 1444 on the base. The pot is 19 cm Diameter at the rim (7 1/2 ins), 26 cm (10 ins) at the waist and 16cm (6 1/4 ins)at the base, It weighs 1504 gms, Please note a very fine crack in photo 5, which does not seem serious - the bowl still makes a ringing noise when tapped with a fingernail
