Description

~~~
Here we have a wonderful old Glasbake angel food, coffee cake or bundt cake pan. This great old piece of vintage bakeware is 9 1/2" in diameter at the rim and is 3 1/2" tall. It holds 8 cups (1/2 gallon). It is made of very thick, clear, ovenproof, heat resistant glass and weighs a hefty 3 lbs. It is marked "Glasbake " at the tip of the central cone.
“Glasbake” brand glass, introduced in 1917, was the McKee Glass Company's answer to “Pyrex” (the heat- and breakage-resistant cookware produced by Corning). After many years of production, the McKee Glass factory was acquired in 1951 to become the McKee Division of Thatcher Glass Company. The spelling "Glasbake" was used between 1917 and 1953. After 1953 the spelling was changed to "Glassbake". So we know that this piece was produced prior to 1953.
Condition of this cake/bundt pan is very good for its age. It is very clean and has no baked on food residue. There are 4 small chips along a portion of the upper rim (see pix. 8 & 9). There is also, what appears to be a jagged "scratch" at the bottom of the base (see pic. 4, at 6 o'clock). I'm fairly certain that this is a manufacturing flaw as it appears to be "within" the glass rather than on the surface. There are no cracks, repairs, stains, cloudiness or discoloration. This very clean piece of vintage bakeware would make a very attractive and functional addition to your mid-century, vintage, retro or contemporary kitchen. It could also be used as an interesting fruit or candy bowl.
Thank you for looking! Please contact us with any questions or if you require additional pictures.
Any over estimates on shipping greater than $1.00 will be promptly refunded. We do not add any handling, packaging or materials fees. Buyer pays actual shipping costs. We will combine shipping costs whenever possible.
We are happy to ship outside the US. Please use the "policies and shipping" tab, located beneath the item's pictures to determine shipping cost.
*** Customs duties, taxes and processing fees may be incurred, depending on the country you're shipping to. You may be asked to pay these costs before receiving your parcel. These fees are charged by the "receiving" country. JingleBeanFarm is not responsible for these fees.
All items are Vintage or Antique and may show natural wear due to age and use. Items are described to the best of our ability and knowledge. Wear or damage is noted to the best of our ability. All measurements are approximations. Please examine the pictures carefully. Thank you very much for your interest and your business!
