These delightful dragonfly cabochons were hand-carved in bone in Bali and would make a striking pendant and matching ring.

They'd also work as scrapbook embellishments, and I think they'd be stunning additions to luxury wedding invitations. You could also use them to make wedding favors. Because these pieces are hand-crafted, you would need to order well in advance of the wedding.

This listing is for two pieces but if you want more, please convo me to discuss the possibilities. I will make a special price for bulk orders.

BACK STORY
Crafting beautiful ornaments and jewelry pieces from animal bone is a time-honoured tradition among many of the world's cultures, including several of the diverse ethnic groups scattered through the Indonesian archipelago.

Delicately hand-carved pieces come alive in the hands of talented artisans such as those found on the island of Bali.

Bone is a sturdy and versatile material that is durable enough to craft a treasured heirloom. The bone used in Indounik cabochons is from cattle and is sourced from Java.

It's carved in the village of Tampaksiring, home of the island's best carvers of bone, horn and shell.

In Indonesia, the dragonfly is known as capung, pronounced chapoong.

--------------------------------------------------------------------
Deep in the sun-searched growths the dragonfly
Hangs like a blue thread loosened from the sky:
So this winged hour is dropt to us from above.
Oh! clasp we to our hearts, for deathless dower,
This close-companioned inarticulate hour
When twofold silence was the song of love.
~ Dante Gabriel Rossetti,
The House of Life, 'Silent Noon', pt.1
