Description

Real microscopy printed on a silky scarf - made with passion by an art-loving biologist. Celebrate the beauty of biology with this science scarf!

This premium quality cashmere scarf is created from a collage of real microscopy images of human cells. Each cell has a unique shape created by a skeleton made of actin filaments - resulting in a beautiful pattern. The actin cytoskeleton was imaged by fluorescence polarization microscopy, resulting in a slightly different shade of magenta depending on the orientation of the filaments. Each cell has a nucleus containing its DNA (blue) and centromeres (cyan). A scale bar in the corner represents the actual dimensions of the structures.

There are many ways to wear it - as a scarf, shawl, headscarf or skirt!

Measurements: 70.9 x 26.8 inches / 180 x 68 cm

Fabric and print:
10% Cashmere and 90% Modal (a cellulose fiber made from renewable plants such as beech trees; similar to cotton, but extra soft and silky). Together, they create a soft texture that flows beautifully and feels nice on the skin. The edges have a rolled hem finish for a clean and elegant look.

Digitally printed in Italy, with vivid colors that are accentuated by a deep black background. Please note that the scarf print is one sided, so the other side is a little paler, and colors may vary depending on your screen.

Care:
Hand wash gently and wear with love - this way the scarf will look great for a long time.

Processing time and shipping:
If you need this item by a certain date, please let me know and I will do the best I can to make it work!
Processing times can be significantly shorter if the item is in stock. Shipping estimates on Etsy may not always be accurate, as some items ship from Europe, Canada or the US, depending on the availability (please keep in mind that customs may apply). If the shipping costs turn out to be lower than calculated by Etsy, I'm happy to refund the extra costs.

Returns or exchanges:
If you don't love the item, I'll be happy to exchange or reimburse an unworn and unwashed scarf. Please never hesitate to contact me if you're not fully satisfied - I want you to be happy and your positive feedback means a lot to me!
