Description

Handmade/Hand Forged for you by me from solid sterling silver and genuine Tagua Nut beads.

Beautiful deep black tagua nut beads hung on sterling silver hand made hoops, then oxidized and polished. Total length is 1 1/4" (3.5 cm).

♥︎ WHAT IS TAGUA:

Tagua Nut is also known as "Vegetable Ivory". The seed comes from the Phytelephas Macrocarpa palm tree that grows in the tropical rainforest of South America. They are pure cellulose and before the nuts mature, they are soft and can be eaten (they taste just like a fresh coconut). The marbled effect is natural and represents the “growth rings” of the nut.
The density is very close to the density of ANIMAL IVORY. Tagua is replacing the slaughter of mammal ivory (elephants and other) in the textile and fashion industries. In one year, one Tagua Nut palm produces as much ivory as an average female African elephant. No HARM is done to the tree (or the elephant) as the nuts are harvested after they fall from the tree. The Tagua Nut production market employs hundreds of families every year.

Convo me with any questions or special orders. Earrings ready to ship in a bow tied gift box and organza bag for that special person or you!
