This charming 1959 children's letterpress book has a great provenance: it was privately printed at Franklin Printing Company (Founded in 1728 by Benjamin Franklin) just outside of Philadelphia.

Entitled The Snowflake, this was written by Richard Marek, illustrated by Oliver James, and designed by Sol Calvin Cohen.

The aesthetics are wonderful - the pages are a cool light blue, and the paper is textured. The page numbers are slanted and stylized. Clearly this was a product of people who cared deeply about proper book production.

The story tells of a scientically-minded father who sternly forbids his son to believe in Santa Claus....until Christmas Eve, when Guess Who appears in the living room.

30 pages, all clean and crisp and strongly bound.

One small chip out of the spine. There is a thin line running horizontally across the back cover, as if someone ran a sharp blade across it.

No dust jacket.
