The Nautilus Viewer is a major Steampunk artwork by Will Rockwell. It consists of an 18" X 15" X 22" high Nautilus themed wooden case which houses an 8" digital frame behind a brass porthole. The frame continuously plays an 11 minute video produced by Will Rockwell called "Through the Eyes of Genius", a tribute to the Nautilus and its creator Harper Goff. The video features every scene of the Nautilus from "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea", plus comments by Goff about his design for the submarine and many still photos of the sub models and its influences.
The Nautilus Viewer contains a lighting system which illuminates the various windows, portholes and salon windows on the case. The brass wheel on the case controls the level of both the lights and the interior cooling fan. The knife switch turns on the viewer. The entire case is finished in a special rusted iron paint. A large brass etching of the Goff blueprint of the Nautilus is attached under the viewscreen.
