1 Set of 2 framed, 10 in total Persian papier-mache playing cards. Five rectangular hand-painted playing cards in each from different sets,I think,I HAVE BEEN INFORMED that these are watercolor and gold on papier-mache under lacquered varnish. Description of the game by the Brooklyn Museum: "The full set of cards for the game of âs nâs, a gambling game similar to poker, contains twenty cards, with four each of five suits. The suite, in descending order, include the âs (ace); the shâh (king); the bîbî (queen); the sarbâz (soldier), represented by one or more soldiers, noblemen, or hunters; and the lakât, represented by a female of low rank, often a dancer or a servant.in these that I Am selling I can only describe them as The Shah, The Queen The Soldier, The Dancer and The Hunter. Card designs may include traditional and European costumes, floral and veg designs, erotic imagery, or mythological creatures." From my late fathers collection. Condition: no losses to the varnish and color. Dimension: 5.7 cm to 6 cm high x 3.8 cm to 4.1 cm wide.Framed with glass over.
