Description

Pottery Serving Dish
Classic White Glaze
Slab Constructed
Handles On Each Side
High-Fired Stoneware
Oven And Dishwasher Safe
Dimensions 10" Long x 6 1/2" Wide 1 3/4 High
Ready to ship.

A classic white glaze pottery serving dish. This pottery serving dish is slab constructed with comfortable handles added to each side. It easily holds three cups of vegetables, salad or a side dish.

A bit about the process:

The hand building method I used to create this piece involves using slabs of wet clay rolled out (like a giant pie shell) on a piece of canvas. The wet clay is then cut into the desired shape and draped into a form. The handles are added while the clay is still moist. As the clay slowly dries, it retains the shape of the form.

I work primarily with a white stoneware clay because I love the way the glazes look over the white clay. Stoneware is clay is well-suited to creating tableware. It is a clay body that can be fired to a high enough temperature to vitrify it. This means it is not porous and will not absorb moisture or leak when liquid is left in it. It is fired in a pottery kiln to at least 2200° F. You can put it in the dishwasher and in the oven. When putting in the oven, it is best to start with a cold oven and bake no higher than 350°F.

If you are purchasing a gift, please leave a note with your order and I will include a gift message from you.
