Magical Lullabies When Anne-Lise was but a babe, the King of Crows, with the fellowship of the small cottage’s shape-changing house spirit, passed many a starlit night singing lullabies and watching over her.

As I child I knew. As a grown-up, I remember... at bedtime, whether behind the cupboard, or nestled in the darkening shadow under the stairs, or in that sliver of inky blackness of a cracked open closet door and most certainly and most assuredly under the bed, there is a magical doorway. I do not think I ever knew the name of the place that the doorway led. But, I knew it was a country of moonbeams and starlight. And in that twinkling land there were… Faeries, Witches, the Wicked and the Most ‘Orrible Things, Pirates, and Lovelies.
