Pietersite (also spelled Petersite) is a cryptocrystalline quartz mineral that forms in masses. A variety of Chalcedony, Pietersite is made up of tiger’s eye, Jasper and Hawk’s eye. Pietersite can be described as brecciated, meaning that it is composed of broken fragments of minerals or rocks cemented together by a fine-grained matrix that is not necessarily the same material as the fragments. Pietersite’s unique storm-like fibrous swirls have prompted the nickname, “Tempest stone.” While blue is the rarest color, black, brown, red and gold specimens are also found.

Metaphysical properties of gemstones and minerals are provided for informational purposes only, and no life altering results are guaranteed. Pietersite is said to support brotherhood and peace, promoting joy and harmony. This mineral may assist in seeing the order in what is seemingly only chaos and chance. Absorbing negative energies of hostility and strife, Pietersite promotes happiness and unity. It may be helpful in conflict resolution.
