Description

This listing is for a THE ORIGINAL, FRAMED, ACRYLIC ON CANVAS of my painting "The Splendid Starship Revelation".

Dimensions: 12”x14”

The original painting was done in acrylics, by me, the artist RARABIRD.

INCLUDES A CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY, signed by myself, the artist, RARABIRD.

My signature is found amidst the grass blades at the bottom right corner of the painting. I also hand-sign each piece.

The theme of this painting is about wishing for something that you think will never come to you, and then receiving a mystical, beautiful, prophetic premonition, a promise that it is going to be delivered to you, that your dream will soon come true.

In this painting, a beautiful, young, native island girl, dressed in festival finery, has been sent into the dark jungle during an evening celebration to fetch water in ceremonial jugs (ceramic designs inspired by my friend, the Tiki ceramicist, Johnnie Velour). The festival (or perhaps it is a wedding?), is not her own celebration, otherwise she would not be the one sent to fetch more water. She is lonely, and while she is attending to her chore, dreams and wishes for a lover to come to her so that she may have her own wedding one day. As she looks into the sky to make her wish on a star, a constellation comes to life in the form of a magical revelation, foretelling that soon, her ship will come in. Her dream will come true, her hopes and wishes will be fulfilled. She stares in awe, but recognizes that clearly the message is for her, and she raises her hand up in greeting to her future lover. She now has reason to believe in her own future, where she will be surrounded by love, and no longer just the girl who goes to fetch the water at other's weddings.

Details include tropical plants such as elephant ears, alocasia, taro, clivia, monstera, banana trees, palm trees, and heliconia. The birds are scarlet ibis. Three wade silently in the background, only one notices the constellation. One looks into the water searching for fish, one looks directly at the viewer of the painting. One ibis has snuck over and naughtily knocked over one of the girl's water jugs, hoping to find fishes to eat inside...after all, it is printed on the label!

Custom paintings can also be requested. Please contact me, RARABIRD, the artist and Etsy seller, with your ideas for a commissioned piece. I mainly work in Tiki, Fantasy, Mermaid, Nautical, Exotic and Tropical themes.

International shipping can be calculated per destination.
