Jet black beads hang from a delicate handmade sterling silver french ear wire. The beads are vintage pressed or depression glass. The style is called 'nail head' and they are faceted on the front and smooth on the back. The edges of the bead are imperfect from the glass mold. They measure 9 mm. in diameter and are wire wrapped to dangle with a sterling headpin.

I bought a string of these beads from an estate sale with the original tag (4th picture) which says City Of Paris / Union Square / San Francisco. City of Paris was a department store in S.F. popular in the 20's, which sold only French items, and these beads were made to simulate jet during the depression when no one could afford the real thing. As a collector of depression glass, I think these earrings are really special. The facets in the bead pick up the light when it moves and it'll go with your little black dress perfectly!
