Description

My son has cystic fibrosis, and has to do breathing treatments every day. The pediatric masks we use come with a flimsy elastic strap, which doesn't do a very good job of holding the mask in place, especially with a squirmy kid! After fighting the elastic slippage through many hours of treatments, I put my sewing skills to good use and fashioned a better strap. Most things that strap to your face have a similar design, so I got some fun fabrics, scaled it down to fit a child's head, and voila!

Nebulizer time has never been easier!

Ok, ok. Maybe, sometimes... let's be real. It's still difficult. But at least we're hands free now! He can read, play on the tablet, pick his nose, you know... whatever little boys do to keep busy. :)

These straps have finished elastic that threads through the mask, which makes them adjustable and comfy. The elastics snap off of the main strap, in case you need to wash the strap, but you would rather not fiddle with the threading/unthreading. Or, if you want to wash the mask, and not wet the whole entire strap. The stiff plastic ends on the elastic, and plastic resin snaps are able to withstand lots of repeated use and high heat. That said, I have only subjected them to my dryer (on high) and boiling. I can't say for sure how they will fare after a run through your steam sterilizer. (my guess is they would be just fine, just might shorten the elastic's life a little) If you sterilize yours in a steam sterilizer, please let me know how it goes and what kind of machine you have!

Note: First photo shows the actual fabric for this listing. Small size measures 12.5" with 6" of elastic on either side. Very adjustable, but best fits up to about age 3. Large measures 14" and also has 6" of elastic on either side. The large will fit most heads after age 3 or 4. Seriously. Even big kids or adults. If you need a different size, check out my other listings or convo me!

Also, just in case you'd like to know: I donate a big pile of straps to our CF clinic as often as I can. I use some of my profits from the ones I sell here to fund supplies for the donations.

Lastly, if you need a ped mask, I am now keeping them in stock! Just choose your child's size "w/mask" to add to your order.

This is such an improvement over the strap that comes with the nebulizer mask! The design is awesome and you can tell they are made to last. We love the camo pattern since it matches our kiddos vest! We will be buying another for sure!!!

Although my granddaughter thought it was “granny” looking... should have ordered the dye one!
