This hardcover vintage book from 1897 contains the plays Richard III and Henry VIII by William Shakespeare, edited by Henry Morley, LL.D.

The first page of the book holds a beautiful illustration from the play “King Richard III, Act 3 Scene 1 titled ‘The two Princes, Dukes of Gloster and Buckingham, etc.’ Painted by R. Westall, R.A. Engraved by Fas. Parker. First Published by F. & F. Boydell, Shakspeare Gallery, London.”

It has a forest green linen cover with gold writing on the spine, “Shakespeare” “Richard III” “Henry VIII” “Doubleday & McClure Co.”

Author – William Shakespeare
Edited by - Henry Morley, LL.D.
Copyright – 1897
Publisher – Doubleday & McClure Company

Book measures 5 3/4" x 4 1/8" (14.6 cm x 10.5 cm).

Considering this book is over 100 years old it is in very good condition. The corners of the covers show slight wear. All pages are intact. Pages are beginning to come away from the spine but are all still intact & attached. Some pages have very slight corner bends. The previous owner covered the book in a waxed paper cover which is torn but has kept the book in good condition. The book does have a slight musty smell and is now being stored in a rubbermaid container with some baking soda and a sweetgrass sachet from Etsian TrinitySoap.

I do have other titles of Shakespeare’s works from this set that can be found in the ephemera/books section listed below.

Thanks for visiting! Have a great day!
