Description

This striking hand carved pendant depicting an Orca whale was carved by an artist named Drew Dixon in 1997. Drew may or may not be a relative of well known carver Pat Dixon and his brother Denny, I’ve been unable to find the connection. The material and style of carving points to an origin in Haida Gwaii (Queen Charlotte Islands).

The pendant is lovely. Argillite is a kind of shale that has an interesting dark grey color and beautiful soft, polished surface.

The pendant is suspended by a handsome chain with a hook and eye clasp that tests for good silver. It is unmarked.

The pendant is 4cm (1 1/2”) high X 7cm (2 3/4”) long.

The chain is 25” long.
