Description

Maynard is a very charming and playful little otter made from scrap yardage picked up at a swap meet while I was on vacation... in Maine.

He's 3/4 woolen tweed, and his belly and snoot are a nicely textured fabric, possibly meant for draperies. He's got a very expressive hand-stitched face with a lil faux leather nose, tiny button eyes, and sweet wee ears. All four paws are weighted and beanie.

Maynard's little otter body is sturdy and firm. He owes his great posture to a tightly packed "body pod" core made of tiny scraps of fabric that would otherwise end up in a landfill. He's got a layer of polyfil in there too to keep him squishy and squeezy.

If you prop his legs under his belly just right, he'll sit up on a flat, hard surface. Otherwise he tends to lounge... on his face. Prop him up on a bookshelf, lean him against a pretty potted plant—he'll love it.

He's not tiny, but he is smol. He's about 12" (30 cm) tall, but he's heavy enough to be a functional (if not practical) paperweight.

Spot clean only. Though the button eyes are securely sewn, Maynard may still not be a suitable companion for very, very young people. Fabric circles around eyes will fray with wear, but that just adds to his charm.

This listing is for one otter only. The other one is the pattern prototype and I'm keeping him for myself because I am otterly obsessed. One for you, one for me. :)
