This wonderful real photo postcard shows a group of bathers on a cart outside the Saltair Beach Pavilion, Salt Lake City, Utah. This card shows a pretty woman and two children in bathing suits; a few other bathers; and one man fully dressed. In the background you can see the ornate Saltair Beach Pavilion--a beautiful turreted structure built by the Mormons in the late 1800s. In its heyday, this area was known as "the Coney Island of the West"; the pavilion burned in 1970.

Real photo postcards became available in about 1900 and were actual photographs taken with a camera and then printed directly onto postcard-sized paper. They were limited edition and thus valuable to collectors. This postcard is on AZO paper, with the stamp box showing four squares in the corners, dating it between 1926 and 1940; given the swimsuit style, I believe this is 1920s. The back is divided and unused.

This card is in excellent condition with minimal corner wear or yellowing. The back is labeled Souvenir Saltair Beach, Great Salt Lake. Someone has written "26" on it in pencil.
