Description

This is I believe a vulcanite high relief moulded mourning brooch. Grapes were often used to represent re-birth in mourning jewellery.

I imagine that this was originally black and has faded over time with exposure to sunlight, to a deep brown.

Measures: approx 1&3/4" x 1&1/2" the brooch not including back is approx 3/4" deep

Condition: Minor scuffs and scrapes to surface and one tiny chip to bottom edge.
Main point to note is historically (pre1910s as is an early clasp!) back has been added rather crudely and old resin-like adhesive visible.

Box shown is for display only I'm afraid - this will be sent in a modern gift box.
