This silver teapot from luxury French brand Christofle is very special. We found it all blackened, and polished it (as best as we could) to reveal on the side of the teapot the head of a Roman emperor and underneath "Nimes," the name of a city here in the south of France. Under the lid of the teapot are the numbers 27 30, meaning that this teapot is the 27th in a limited series of 30, which probably means that this was manufactured for a hotel or government office in Nimes.

Christofle supplies to embassies and luxury hotels all over the world, specializing in sterling silver and silver-plated home accessories. The company has been in operation since 1830. This is probably a silver-plated piece, but note that Christofle is known for producing plated pieces as beautiful as sterling silver ones.

This piece is tarnished and nicked, and the lid does not quite fully close - it is lovely in all its vintage imperfection...

A very precious piece, this will be sent registered, and not regular priority. It is 4 inches or 10 cm high and about 7.5 inches or 19 cm wide. The weight is 525 grams. It will arrive in a recycled cardboard box.
