This embroidery features a dark haired woman seated at an arched window. In floral silk pajamas, with flowers in her hair, she clutches a red heart.

Is my description too dramatic? Probably. The embroidery is not fancy or intricate. But the design is well done ... it implies detail that isn’t really there. What is the "Pajama Lady" thinking about? A distant lover? Or is she just waiting for the bridge club?

This bridge cloth is about 31” square. Each of the corners is assigned one suit from a deck of playing cards. The Pajama Lady has the Heart. The other corners have smaller arches topped with a Diamond, Spade or Club.

The soft cloth is ecru colored linen, with a drawn thread hem. Stitch colors are red, black, sky blue, yellow-orange, and light brown. Embroidery stitches are outline stitch, satin stitch, French knots and straight stitch.

Because the designs are stitched diagonally at the corners, cutting out those areas for framing or applique would mean working with bias-cut edges. But it might be worth it. The lady’s red slipper toe is partially covered by the cotton bias tape tie sewn at the corner.

It is clean, and I don’t see any damage or stains. The off-white ties are various lengths.

Cloth is stored in a non-smoking home. A cat lives here. Thanks for looking, and Shop Etsy!
