Frequently asked questions and current details for Blythe vs. Blythe 3 below:

Why I created this Blythe event group?
Last year I sold my ticket to Blythecon Brooklyn and accepted defeat that as a single Mom I would just not be able to travel cross country with a rambunctious 2-year-old by myself. The cost and logistics of bringing him, or leaving him, made it impossible. I can’t tell you how sad I was to admit this. I got to thinking that it is really hard for us passionate Blythe collectors/customizers who are unable to attend a Blythecon, and how great it would be to have some other awesome event we could participate in from our homes. That is when I thought about creating a Blythe event group where we could have competitions supported by the community with fun prizes and activities. Blythe vs. Blythe is the first event like this.

The first Blythe vs. Blythe event occurred in October 2017 and was a huge success. Blythe vs. Blythe 2 occurred in February 2018 and was even more successful with bigger events and a lot more members. Blythe vs Blythe 3 occurred in June 2018.

What is Blythe vs. Blythe?
Blythe vs. Blythe is competition by two top customizers. Each customizer receives the same exact Blythe doll. The doll will be Middie and full rules/plans will be announced in September/October . There is a theme for the event that the customizer will need to interpret. The theme for this event is tba. Over the course of one month they customize the doll in their own style sharing “peeks” throughout the process.

When the dolls are completed, photos are posted to the group and voting begins. Members vote for the doll that they feel best interprets the theme. Voting should not be based on “who’s better”, but rather focus on the best, or most creative interpretation of the theme.

Voting is up for 1 week and at the end the customizer with the most votes wins.

***Now the really fun part. The winning doll is given away via random drawing to a paying member who voted. The customizer receives 80% of the entry fees (up to $1000).***

How can you participate?
Entry for each collector/member is $15 for early birds and $20 starting October 1. Members will be added within 24 hours. If you are not added please convo me asap. Sometimes they slip through because I am not always notified by Etsy.

What else does your entry fee get you other than the chance to win a custom doll?
With your membership payment you will be eligible for an entry gift which is currently to be determined for this event, but for the first event it was a download of my PDF eye chip file or access to my carving video on Youtube (both a $10 value). The second event the gift was even more exciting, a lucky bag full of goodies! There will also be “door prizes” given away and games over the course of the customizing process to keep everything fun and engaging.

What if I don’t want the entry gift?
You are free to pay the membership fee and not receive one of the entry gifts. In addition if you would like to participate without paying the fee, you can donate to our prize pool. Prizes will only be accepted from the direct maker (no used items). Prizes should be valued at $20+. You will be responsible for mailing the prize in, and Blythe vs Blythe will cover the shipping to the winner. As a donor you will receive all kinds of accolades, shout outs and promotions in the group. Please contact me to arrange a donation as depending on the response we might not be able to accept all donations.

If you donation is not received by the end of the event you are not eligible to participate in the main event, otherwise donors have all the same benefits of a regular member.

So who are the customizers in the third Blythe vs. Blythe event?
This event will be different and a surprise!
