Description

Hand picked and harvested in the wild Canadian west coast mountains. This is Chaga in its purest. Sustainably harvested by many Canadian Aboriginals and local pickers with care and respect to the pristine forests. What does that mean? They climb trees! Yes! You read correctly. They climb trees to retrieve the Chaga.

The Chaga are air dried without heat, before it is grinded into powder or chuncks. After each batch, a sample is sent to SGS Lab to test for any heavy metal or chemical or environmental pollutions. Our tests always come back perfect.

How do you know our Chaga is air dried without heat? Easy...smell. When heated, Chaga will have this unique fragrance, the best way to describe it is almost vanilla with a hint of Chinese red dates. I know, right! It's a sweet fragrance. How is our Chaga? When it is fresh, it smell like the forests. And when it is dried, it has virtually no scent at all.

Oh and did we mention...our pickers only harvest Chaga when hell freezes over? Yes, that's right. We do not cheat. We harvest after the tree has gone dormant for the most potent Chaga and the least damaging to the tree.

You can order the Chaga in a few different ways:

1. Powder - 50g. 1 heaping teaspoon into a thermos, add hot water, and let it brew for 1 hour. Enjoy. You can brew it up to 3 times.

2. Chunks - 100g. A few chunks in a pot of water, don't bring it up to boil, just heat it below the boiling point around 70 Celsius. The best and easiest is to use a electric crock pot, and leave the setting on low low. You should be able to get 3 brewed out of the chunks. Then you can soak the left over chaga in high proof alcohol of your choice to further extract out the essence.

3. Finally, for all of your purists, you can email and order a WHOLE piece. Email us the approximate weight you are looking for, and we will tell you what we have in stock. Our pieces are usually LARGE. The smallest piece start around 3 pounds.

That's it!

What does it taste like? Some people compare Chaga to coffee...may be only in color, not in taste. The smell is sweet with hints of Chinese dates, plum and vanilla. The taste is not sweet or bitter. If you add a bit of honey to Chaga, it's down right delicious. And of course, GREAT for you. Super high in SOD.

And of course, for those of you who are adventurous...you can always make "bulletproof Chaga" ! Need recipe...email us! It's delicious.
