Description

Pressed tin (zinc) has a long and storied history as a complementary ornamental or architectural component, reaching its zenith in the 19th century as wall and ceiling decorations and in the use of moldings, wainscoting, ceiling panels, and friezes.

These panels are produced at a turn-of-the-century factory in Missouri, where they are stamped one at a time with antique rope drop hammers, resulting in better quality control than modern hydraulic presses, with original dies from 1898.

I've attached the individual panels to an internal, light wood frame and hinged them with brass butterfly hinges. The overall dimension of each panel is 24" wide and 72" high. The legs are part of the internal structure and measure an additional four inches.

The tonal finish represents up to eight layers of hand rendered, pigmented glaze. The panels are then clear coated with a semi-gloss or matte polyurethane. The back of each panel is painted an eggshell color and lightly dry brushed with a single tinted glaze. The screen is free-standing, and can be folded for ease of movement.

Each screen is handmade, and will ship in 6-8 weeks after you place your order. The screen will be shipped with minimal assembly required.
