My beaded felt poppies used to be one of the most popular items in my shop, I hope you'll enjoy sewing them!
The felt poppies tutorial includes templates for three sizes of poppy, and step by step instructions for making poppy brooches, hairclips and headbands. There's also a poppy embroidery pattern included, which you can stitch to anything you fancy or frame in a 5 inch embroidery hoop.
Stitches required for the felt poppies: running stitch, whip stitch, and (optional) blanket stitch. Stitches for the poppy embroidery: backstitch and (optional) French knots. Embroidery transfer instructions & stitch/colour guides are NOT included.
When finished, the large felt poppy brooches will be approx 8cm (3 inches) high. The poppy embroidery pattern is 9.2cm (3 10/16 inches) high.
The PDF is designed to be printed on A4 paper. It's 13 pages long and includes terms of use, full step by step instructions (with photos) for sewing felt poppy brooches, hair clips and headbands, full size poppy templates, a detailed and simple version of the poppy embroidery pattern (so you can choose if you want to add the shading lines on the petals) plus reversed versions and a short guide to how I embroidered my poppy. To print on letter paper, print the instructions to fit the page but the templates to be 100%.
