Description

This 100% silk matelasse fabric has been hand dyed using the highest quality materials. Perfect for a summer fashion garment: skirt, dress, shirt, trousers, etc or any textile/homewares project.

This piece proved difficult to photograph, but depending on your monitor, is a lovely medium to deep purple shade.

This stunning purple silk measures: Length - 1.9mtrs/2.1yds
Width - 1.14mtrs/44"

It has been industrially steamed-fixed to maintain its colour and is washable.

Matelassé (French: [matlase]) is a weaving or stitching technique yielding a pattern that appears quilted or padded.
Matelassé may be achieved by hand, on a jacquard loom, or a quilting machine. It is meant to mimic the style of hand-stitched quilts made in Marseilles, France. It is a heavy, thick textile that appears to be padded, but actually has no padding within the fabric.
