Description

Puget Sound or Whulge, the Lushootseed name for the sound

As the second largest estuary in the United States, the Puget Sound offers complex waterways, peninsulas, islands and lakes. The Sound opens into the greater Salish Sea. There are many sailboats, ferrys and floatplans traversing these wispy waterways. There was so much I wanted to include in this illustration! I choose to focus on the water, however. I highlighted the cities nearest to the water. Lighthouses and ports are indicated with symbols. Ferry sailing routes and destinations are included.

The first image is the most accurate color representation of the print. On the original, I used waterproof ink and watercolor to create the map. The watermark is not included on the print.

This is a museum-grade archival print on high-quality smooth watercolor paper.

Paper Size - 8x10" or 12x16" or 18x24" (I recommend the largest size, as it's closer to the original painting size and best for spotting details!)

My husband loves maps, so I bought this as a gift to him for his birthday. When he saw this work (and others I bought from Elizabeth at the same time), he was floored and asked,"How have we not heard about Elizabeth Person before now??" Elizabeth's paintings are incredibly beautiful and create ample opportunities for imaginative adventuring. I love all of the little details in this map, from the tiny lighthouses to the paths of the ferries. The colors are clear and lovely, the details are accurate, and it brightens up our entire living room and draws us in each time we pass it by. Multiple times, I have even caught my 5-year-old climbing a bookshelf to stare at it! Thank you for your work, Elizabeth, and thank you for being easy to communicate with and quick to get this print in my hands!
