Dimensions

Necklace length: 18 Inches; Pendant height: 2 3/4 Inches; Pendant width: 1 1/4 Inches

A mighty dragon has been attracted by the delicate blossoms of a Foxglove flower. Even with the floral aspect of this fantasy dragon pendant, the bold sculpture framed in a rectangle makes it appropriate for both men and women. The silver dragon features an 8mm stone accent of either Labradorite or Black Star Diopside (contact me if there is another stone that you desire) and the dragon theme continues on the tube bail which is covered with dragon scales.

The Dragon Pendant is 1 1/4 inches wide and 2 3/4 inches tall. The tube bail at the top of the pendant accommodates a heavy cord, an 18" braided leather cord is included with this artisans jewelry. If you would like a high quality chain see listing https://www.etsy.com/listing/244190048/interlocking-sterling-silver-chain or https://www.etsy.com/listing/244190540/woven-style-sterling-silver-chain A dark patina has been applied then mostly removed to enhance the detail and give contrast to this magical piece of fantasy jewelry. The angled and side views of the silver dragon pendant shows the dimension of the piece.

The idea for this pendant came from my own original drawing, it is of my interpretation of a dragon as it sucombs to the curious appeal of a Foxglove. After that drawing had been completed I decided to scale it down and do a jewelry version of the same design. I then begin to sculpt everything in wax, first by using carving wax for the outside frame, then carefully sculpting the general form of the dragon, overlaying it with detail of scales, spikes, teeth and eye then adding individual flowers, buds and leaves along a stem and finally mounting it all together. I've included photographs of both my drawing and the dragon as it appeared in wax before casting. After the wax sculpture is complete it is cast in sterling silver, excess metal is removed, rough polished, and patina applied. It is a time consuming process, but one that I thoroughly enjoy. For more detailed information on my wax sculpting and casting process go to www.mystcswan.biz and look at the "Creation Process" and "Wax Sculpting" sections.
