Part of the print album 'MariTime'.
No. 2 in a series of 2 (Hommage a "Surrounded Islands" II)

This piece began as a print color study based on a photograph of Christo's "Surrounded Islands". The island in question here is my favorite one - Block Island, in various iterations. The original piece led to this ghost print with figurative elements migrating in from another series. The quality of the print reminded me of old maritime maps, a theme I followed until the whale emerged, from which this newly liberated figure seemed to spring. Who else could it be than Jonah?
