Description

“september read often, and liked it best when words did not pretend to be simple, but put on their full armor and rode out with colors flying.” (page 51, the girl who circumnavigated fairyland in a ship of her own making, by cathrynne m. valente)

ever since the first fairyland book was published, i've been a huge fan. the language is soaring and lyrical, the adventures wild, the companions surreal and effervescent with life and enthusiasm.

seen here are limited edition, signed, numbered, archival prints from my original faerie tale feet gouache painting inspired by all five books in the series.

"everything has a heart."

you can purchase the print in two sizes, and i have a framed option for you, too:
(see photos for size comparisons; the framed one is the smaller one.)

LARGE print measures 16x16" in the mat,
image size is 9x9"
ready to frame!
limited edition of 350

SMALL print measures 12x12" in the mat,
image size is 7x7"
ready to frame!
limited edition of 250

SMALL framed print measures 13 x 13” in the frame
image size is 7x7”
limited edition of 250
soft black framing, wire back reading for hanging

prints are made with archival ink and matted with acid-free museum-quality mat board.

the author definitely understands shoes. here's a line from the first book that describes one of the many reasons i feature them in my paintings:

“shoes are funny beasts. you think they’re just clothes, but really, they’re alive. they want things. fancy ones with gems want to go to balls, big boots want to go to work, slippers want to dance. or sleep. shoes make the path you’re on. change your shoes, change the path.” (page 187, the girl who circumnavigated fairyland in a ship of her own making)

here's to many of your own adventures. i recommend the books, but even if you aren't familiar with them yet, i hope you like the art, too.

the original painting has already sold to a collector, but you can read all about the painting process & the original story included in this piece's background symbolism on my website: https://www.halthegal.art/september-in-fairyland/
