Forest Quilt

Hello there and thank you for stopping by. Let me tell you a bit about this quilt. At its heart it is a string quilt, but it is far more complicated than that. I have worked on this quilt for about 6 months and over that time is has developed into quite a wonderful piece. I had all the piecing of the front finished before going to the Beaver Island Quilt Retreat with Gwen Marston earlier this month. As soon as I returned home I knew just how I was going to quilt it. Gwen taught us how to make quilted vines and I applied them to the last boarder.

The trees are made with coral, orange, pink and brown cotton fabric. You can find a great deal of Anna Griffin, Amy Butler and Japanese prints by Lecien in this quilt. The sage green background is a tiny pin dot by Lecien. The inner boarder is a print with tiny math problems.

A scattering of yellow liberated stars twinkle above the dawn colored forest. I have pieced tiny bits of ACU into the stars since I do use some military fabric in all my quilts and bags.

I assembled and quilted this quilt on my Bernina 820 insuring the finest stitch quality available. It is made to be used and washed and used again. I have already washed and dried this quilt for you to get it on the road to being an heirloom for your family. It will become softer and more wonderful with each trip through your laundry room.

The Forest quilt is batted with a very thin cotton batting by Quilter’s Dream and quilted with a cream colored long staple Egyptian cotton thread. I hand stitched the binding on with a ecru cotton thread to contrast with the sage green just the slightest bit. The back is a 200 thread count cream colored Muslin. I love using the heavy, finely woven muslin because it gives the final product a bit of extra weight.

This quilt is 83 inches long and 62 inches wide. It is the perfect size for a twin bed, or will make a wonderful quilt to snuggle under on the couch. When I started the quilt I intended it to be a wall hanging, so if you have a big naked wall it will be right at home there too.

This Forest Quilt will come to you wrapped and I will insure the parcel. I am willing to ship to you internationally, but International shipping will apply. Please let me know if you have any questions.
