Description

for sale is a early rare drafting table classic by Dietzgen, "Shamrock" series. original design dates back to 1910's, so yes, this is over a century old.

Dietzgen tables are our favorite. Eugene Dietzgen, the founder, was born in Germany, spent some years in Russia, and arrived in New York at the age of 19. his work is renown for impeccable German engineering, and became a trendsetter for drafting tables years to come. blueprints for expansive industrialization in the United States and beyond were created with the aid of Dietzgen-manufactured products. so we didn't take the restoring of this piece lightly.

both top and base have been sanded and sealed with German Osmo top oil – a product that is food-safe, extremely water and chemical resistant, very durable and hardwearing. It's a microporous, breathable finish which does not crack, peel or flake, and no sanding is necessary for spot repairs or future applications.

all cast iron parts have been meticulously stripped to original.

massive 1-inch thick top features tongue and groove joint and measures at an impressive 43 3/4 x 60 inches.

the height and tilt are adjustable in a number of ways. with the top set horizontally, the table goes from 31 to 44 inches tall. the legs have a smart curved cut to them, ensuring that the table stands steady no matter the height or angle.

11 3/4 wide 4 1/4 inch tall drawer slides under the table, it runs 26 1/2 inches deep. it has a mount for a lock with a matching metal inlay for locking on the bottom of the table.

the table is perfect as a standing / sitting work station, arts, crafts, and whatever else can benefit from a large flexible working surface.
