The painting: .07 BIC Mechanical Pencil and 2016 aged Jam Jar Shiraz wine. Painted in 2017/Color wear
This piece was made from a reference photograph and is the third wine painting I have ever made.
The painting style is impressionistic with light illustrative qualities and modern techniques.

A statement in any room. These matte, museum-quality posters are printed on durable, archival paper.

Yes, I paint using real, wholesome, alcoholic wine.
Reds are preferred for obvious reasons. But more particularly, I prefer wholesome, full red wines such as Cabs, Shiraz, or Merlot. Blends tend to be too light for my taste, but they come in handy for middle ground.
The reason put simply: there is only and will only ever be one in the world like it. Prints aren't the original and prints will not change color. When you buy an original, you buy a one of a kind, an authentic piece moved by time.
I do take commissions but whether I choose to take yours, or his, or hers is at my sole discretion.
Of course! In fact, I encourage this step so that you can make your piece that much more special to you specifically. But the price of that wine will be added to the commission price under "price of materials." And if I haven't worked with it before, I can't guarantee the contrast, or the "look" of the wine on paper.
What I love about painting with wine is the smell of the paper afterwards. Even if it would be invisible, it would still be there. White wine, as well as red, turns into an orangey-brown over time. I think this adds overall beauty to the piece, as it changes gradually over time, like everything else.
The wine will maintain its vibrant, purply color for about 1.5-2 years. Then it will start fading to brown (science!). I still love the color afterwards but it is quite a bit of difference. If you want to maintain the purple, I would suggest buying a high quality print alongside an original. I could also include a high quality print but at a higher charge.
