artist : Josef Pravec (* 1928 )
maker: Podebrady

Vase; glass; cut; asymmetrical pattern of incurved diagonal vertical cuts running down all around the massive body, creating optical effects that change depending on the angle.
this piece is designed by Josef Pravec (born1928) who trained at the famous Glassmaking School in Novy Bor from 1945-48 and at the School of Applied Art, Prague from 1949-55, under Prof. K Stipl. In 1956 he became a designer at the Podebrady Glassworks, specialising in cut and engraved glass. Pravec has designed both series production and one-off works like this one.
