I hand cut this thunderbird pendant on a scroll saw from 1/4 inch (0.6 cm) thick walnut wood. I shaped it with a rotary tool, sanded until smooth and finished with a Danish penetrating oil and a wax polish.

Two screw eyes and jump rings attach the thunderbird to a silver colored chain with a toggle clasp for a simple but elegant necklace.

The thunderbird is from a pattern by Deborah Nicholson published in Creative Woodworks and Crafts magazine, and is 2 inches (5 cm) high by 2.875 inches (7.3 cm) wide. Approximately 12 inches (30 cm) of chain are on either side of the thunderbird.
