A subtly complex halter top composed of frayed silk and braided trim. The deepest plum jersey serves as a soft, cozy underlay, and is topped with a taupe linen-cotton blend. The bodice flares out from a flattering empire waist for a loose fit around the hips. Raw-edged braided trim graces the heart shaped neckline and serves as straps to tie in the back.

Deconstructed, raw edges have always delighted me, but the quandary of keeping them from melting away has always been the issue. I showed a respectable amount of restraint in designing this lovely. Looking rough and soft at the same time, the raw silk trim is double stitched to hold it in place and limit the amount of fraying. All other raw edges are jersey and not prone to fraying, but still help give the piece a delightful, serrated appearance. The braided trim is made from the same deep plum jersey that serves as the underlay for the rest of the shirt, and gives it a super rich, satisfying look. Made to be worn by royalty prone to ferocious bouts of impropriety, it makes my mouth water for gold brooches and chains, and begs for a good set of ivory tights and ridiculously lavish skirt.

Note: Please specify your size preference upon ordering. This fabric is gone, so I can no longer do any custom sizing, sorry!

Also: The silk on the bust is meant to eventually fray down to the stitching, and look even more feathered than it does here. However, delicate care and dry cleaning will help slow this process.
