This is the most exquisite design I personally have ever seen on antique ceramic tableware with a unique square and scallop shaped edge painted with gold curls this matching dinner plate and salad or soup bowl pair has a luscious black and red poppy flower design with a goldenrod or mustard yellow used for leaves and curlicues and tiny background dots. The background is a creamy off-white.

The mark on the bottom reads: "Royal Staffordshire Pottery, A.J. Wilkinson Ltd. Honeyglaze" and is stamped "Sussex". Both bowl and plate show some wear and rubbing away to the pattern but not too drastic as to diminish their beauty... I purchased them nonetheless because of their originality and the incredible way the black, red and gold work together. From what i've researched, based on the mark, they date to circa 1947.

Bowl measures 6 1/4" square and 2" high.
Plate measures 9 1/2" square.
