This table stands 22” tall and is 18 ¼” wide. Each square is 1 ½”, the whole board is just under 12”. There are over 1700 pieces on the entire table. The pieces are used over the edge and onto the pedestal and feet of the table. There are 8 of my half size triangles on each square. It gives a chess or checker board a completely different look. It has two drawers, one on each side. The drawers have magnetic catches on the back of them, so they don’t slide out on their own. I use wood dowels to help hold the drawers together. The table is finished in its natural color with 5 or 6 coats of a clear wiping varnish, rubbed in by hand. The pieces are a bit over 3/16" thick, glued onto a Baltic Birch base, so they hold up much better than a thin veneer.

The type of wood is listed on the bottom of the table. The dark square has “Purpleheart” from Central or South America, and “Wenge” from West Africa. The light square has “Red Gum” from South Eastern U.S. and “Hackberry” from Missouri. And then “Oak” and “Walnut” from Missouri are used on the rest of the table.

I made this table in 1998 and it is small table number 11. On the bottom I signed it, listed the wood, dated it and put the number of the table. After the number, the words “Foot Cut” let you know I made it on a foot powered table saw.

I lined the bottom of the drawers with black velveteen.

Go to my ”Shop Polices” and “Profile” page to see my return policy and other information on how I make these. To see other tables I’ve made, click on “Tables” or whatever gets your interest under “Sections in this shop”. The “Home” page itself can be rather confusing with everything mixed up. The “Sections in this shop” lets me show you all like items together as a unit.

The Small Chess Table will be shipped with pedestal and feet disassembled. Directions will be included for assembling.

Payment can be made using Pay Pal for immediate shipment, money order or check. Checks will have to clear before shipment is made.
