Description

These original crochet designs have been inspired by the creatures that I see swimming in the seas off the Coast of Queensland. Dolphins can be mistaken as sharks from a distance, but the real excitement is when there is a larger spurt and to realize there are whales. In spring the humpbacks migrate south from the Great Barrier Reef to Antarctica, and are very active off the Queensland Coast. They are a protected species and the whaling boats from other countries are not welcome here. A breeching humpback is a magnificent sight. The great white shark occasionally makes the news when he munches on a surfer. The sting ray is a bottom dweller and not often seen. They are non aggressive but reached infamy when one killed the Crocodile Hunter last year. I designed this set mid last year and it has taken me a while to bring this collection to completion.

This pattern set includes instructions for a snub fin dolphin, humpback whale, sting ray and great white shark. Four separate patterns are provided for you to crochet. These work up well in either 4ply size 10 cotton thread with a 1.75 hook, or 8ply worsted weight yarn and a 4mm hook. You can add some blow hole spurts, and try different colour effects.

Instructions are provided in both Australian/English and American terms. Patterns will be emailed to you in a pdf format. There are no shipping costs.

Make your own novel bookmarks, or motifs to be used on clothing, home decor items or accessories. These creatures from the sea look fabulous on towels and beach items!

All designs are fair dinkum original and are protected by copyright. Please do not reproduce my patterns or images by any means. While I am happy for you to make these for personal use, gifts and charity fundraising, do not sell on the web or make a personal profit.

I love these patterns! Originally bought them in 2007 and lost them...so glad you still have them available. Will make fun bookmarks for a very small aspiring Marine Biologist. Thanks so much!
