Floral Art Deco Nouveau Ceiling Light Schoolhouse Globe, 1920-1940

Description

This colorful vintage glass light globe and metal ceiling mount fixture likely dates to the 1920's - 1940's in art deco style with raised and multi-hue painted flowers. Note the interesting paneled and scalloped shape, not just your ordinary round globe!

The globe is a soft frosted white, over which the raised panels are painted in blue, red, orange, pink and green to show off the floral design elements. The bottom is left clear for better lighting, and is detailed with a coiled rope design. Would fit nicely with shabby chic or cottage style decor!

The globe measures approx 8.5" wide at the shoulder by 7" tall. The mouth opening has the following measurements: The interior opening measures 3 1/4" diameter, and to the outer lip it measures 4" diameter. The piece is in very good vintage condition with no cracks or chips and good strong paint colors. Comes mounted on a metal base for near-flush mount hanging, and this piece has been recently freshened with a coat of white lacquer. The globe and mount together have a total drop from the ceiling of 11". Base diameter of mount measures 6 3/8" across.

The wiring and ceramic socket are old, and though probably working, should be evaluated by an electrician before installation. I did not test this piece.

PACKING, SHIPPING AND PAYMENT:
All our lighting will be VERY carefully packed using plenty of bubblewrap and/or packing peanuts as needed. Most pieces will also be double boxed for extra safety in transit. This is our standard packing procedure, and is included in the stated shipping costs.

Domestic shipment is by FedEx Ground, and will carry full coverage in case of loss or damage by shipper.

Due to generally large and fragile nature of our items, we do NOT ship items in combination with the exception of matched lamp pairs which are specifically offered together.

I'm so happy with the pair of candlestick lamps I purchased. They arrived in fine shape, just as pictured, and perfectly compliment the decor in my bedroom. Looking forward to picking out lamp shades.

A Word about Choosing the Right Lampshade:

Most of the lamps I sell do NOT come with a lampshade. There are two main reasons.

First, I only have a very limited number of shades, and many more lamps. I use each shade over and over again to take my photos to give an idea of how a shade will look on each lamp. Often the shade shown may have stains on the back or other damages, or it really isn't right for the lamp overall. I crop my pictures so you can't see that it's way too tall, too wide, etc.

Second is the consideration of additional shipping cost. Most shades are big, and all shades are fairly delicate. Proper packing of a shade takes up a LOT of box space, and may even require a separate box from the lamp itself. Obviously this would increase shipping costs drastically over the base cost of the lamp.

For both reasons, I recommend buying a shade locally that is exactly what you want. Stores like Lowe's and Target offer great looking lampshades at low prices. Also try local thrift stores or antique malls for vintage and antique shades at very reasonable prices. Or, simply repurpose a lampshade you already own!
